Collection: Artwork

Cyanotypes are a photographic technique that involves two chemicals which react with the sunlight, creating a blue color similar to water. Developed in 1842, it was one of the earliest forms of photography and was even used by Anna Atkins, one of the earliest female photographers, to create a series of books documenting ferns and seaweed. Working with the materials by hand, I arrange the leaves on my canvas, and using stencils to block out the sun, I expose them to the light, and the result is an image as unique as the plant itself.

My goal as an artist is to encourage others to develop an appreciation and a personal relationship with their environment. My goal is to provide a momentary pause in the speed of modern life and give a sense of the serenity that surrounds us.
