This cyanotype showcases a rich layering of ferns, maple, and oak leaves, creating a sense of depth and texture across the dark, oceanic blue background. Wavy, flowing bands weave through the composition, resembling currents or gentle breezes that carry the leaves in a dance across the surface. The lighter shades of the leaves contrast beautifully against the deep blues, drawing the eye to the intricate details of each leaf. Each cyanotype is a one-of-a-kind original, crafted from leaves I've gathered from around the world, making each piece like a journal of my travels. Made on watercolor paper, each artwork has my signature on the front and back. The cyanotype process involves soaking the paper in water, sometimes multiple times, which can create small tears. I've reinforced these spots with tape when needed, though they won’t show once framed. This process uses sunlight to create natural shapes in rich blue tones, giving each piece its own unique character.
