This piece carries a quiet sense of balance, with a feeling of yin and yang between light and shadow, movement and stillness. Two types of fern take the lead, one rising tall and bold, the other branching out in soft, delicate patterns. Surrounding them are maple, oak, ginkgo, and small round leaves, all gently woven into the composition. The star-shaped flowers scattered throughout come from the Queen’s Wreath vine, one of my favorite plants that grows in my garden. The deeper blue tones in this piece bring a moody energy, while the visible brushstrokes give it a soft sense of movement and depth.
