A monstera leaf fills the upper half of the tall composition, its splits and holes spilling beyond the edges, while a Palmetto fan leaf radiates upward from the lower half beneath it. Star-shaped botanicals are scattered densely across the entire background, creating a beautiful repeating pattern that glows through both leaves. The tones shift between deep midnight navy, warm olive green and soft teal throughout, with the layered botanicals adding an intricate, almost textile-like quality to the piece.
Created using the cyanotype process, two chemicals are hand mixed and applied to watercolor paper, real botanicals are placed on top and exposed to natural sunlight, then washed by hand to reveal the image. Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind original artwork.
