Two palm fronds cross dramatically through the tall composition, their long narrow leaflets fanning in opposite directions to create a bold diagonal energy. A delicate fern frond and dragonfly are visible in the lower half, softly layered beneath the strong graphic lines of the palms. Sweeping brushstrokes flow across the middle, adding movement and depth. The tones shift between deep midnight navy at the top and warm sandy gold and soft powder blue in the lower half, giving the piece a beautiful light and airy quality toward the bottom.

Created using the cyanotype process, two chemicals are hand mixed and applied to watercolor paper, real botanicals are placed on top and exposed to natural sunlight, then washed by hand to reveal the image. Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind original artwork.

This cyanotype measures 11 x 30 inches and is created on high-quality watercolor paper. Each piece is handmade by me and completely one-of-a-kind. It comes unframed, allowing you to choose the perfect frame for your space.

My recommendation for framing this piece is a shadowbox frame in white or natural wood, with a 2- to 3-inch mat. I suggest floating the artwork, meaning it’s mounted slightly above the mat board, fully showcasing its beautiful deckled edges and adding depth.
