This cyanotype layers maple leaves, oak leaves, and delicate ferns, arranged across horizontal bands that shift between soft sepia and deep blue. The large maple and oak leaf silhouettes are highlighted in gentle, muted tones, adding a sense of depth and structure. Star-shaped flora is scattered throughout, bringing a touch of playfulness to the composition. The layered effect, combined with the rich blue background, creates a calm, forest-inspired atmosphere, as if gazing through layers of leaves on a misty morning. The warm sepia tones add contrast and warmth, enhancing the feeling of tranquility.
Each cyanotype is a one-of-a-kind original, crafted from leaves I've gathered from around the world, making each piece like a journal of my travels. Made on watercolor paper, each artwork has my signature on the front and back. The cyanotype process involves soaking the paper in water, sometimes multiple times, which can create small tears. I've reinforced these spots with tape when needed, though they won’t show once framed. This process uses sunlight to create natural shapes in rich blue tones, giving each piece its own unique character.
