A double exposure of two Palmetto fan leaves radiates from the top and bottom of the tall composition, their sharp fronds meeting in the middle to create a stunning elongated diamond form. Delicate fern fronds and maple-like leaves are softly visible in the background, adding a beautiful layer of botanical detail. Sweeping circular brushstrokes arc around the outside, framing the central form with energy and movement. The tones shift between deep midnight navy at the centre and soft teal and sage green toward the edges, giving the piece a glowing, luminous quality.

Created using the cyanotype process, two chemicals are hand mixed and applied to watercolor paper, real botanicals are placed on top and exposed to natural sunlight, then washed by hand to reveal the image. Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind original artwork.

This cyanotype measures 11 x 30 inches and is created on high-quality watercolor paper. Each piece is handmade by me and completely one-of-a-kind. It comes unframed, allowing you to choose the perfect frame for your space.

My recommendation for framing this piece is a shadowbox frame in white or natural wood, with a 2- to 3-inch mat. I suggest floating the artwork, meaning it’s mounted slightly above the mat board, fully showcasing its beautiful deckled edges and adding depth.
