This cyanotype portrays maple and oak leaves in layered shades of deep blue, creating the feeling of leaves drifting in calm, deep water. The darkened edges enhance the sense of depth, as if the leaves are suspended and slowly moving below the surface. This piece captures a serene, underwater atmosphere, inviting a quiet, reflective moment as the leaves seem to float in a tranquil, blue expanse.
Each cyanotype is a one-of-a-kind original, crafted from leaves I've gathered from around the world, making each piece like a journal of my travels. Made on watercolor paper, each artwork has my signature on the front and back. The cyanotype process involves soaking the paper in water, sometimes multiple times, which can create small tears. I've reinforced these spots with tape when needed, though they won’t show once framed. This process uses sunlight to create natural shapes in rich blue tones, giving each piece its own unique character.
