The large maple leaf sits at the center of this cyanotype, its wide shape and soft surface texture making it the main focal point. Smaller maple leaves move around it, mixed with a few oak leaves that have narrower, more pointed lobes. Two ginkgo leaves appear near the bottom with their smooth, fan shaped edges that stand out against the sharper maple forms.
Star shaped flowers are scattered across the piece, adding light, airy shapes between the larger leaves. The background moves through deep blue and softer teal tones, with fine streaks and small marks from the hand-applied chemistry giving the surface a gentle painterly quality. Altogether, the mix of strong maple shapes, lighter oak silhouettes, ginkgo fans, and star flowers creates a calm, balanced composition with a clear sense of depth.
This cyanotype measures 11 x 30 inches and is created on high-quality watercolor paper. Each piece is handmade by me and completely one-of-a-kind. It comes unframed, allowing you to choose the perfect frame for your space.
My recommendation for framing this piece is a shadowbox frame in white or natural wood, with a 2- to 3-inch mat. I suggest floating the artwork, meaning it’s mounted slightly above the mat board, fully showcasing its beautiful deckled edges and adding depth.
I always recommend working with your local framer when possible. If you're short on time or prefer ordering online, a great alternative is Simply Framed, where you'll find these framing options. For more detailed framing tips, please check out my framing guide.
This cyanotype artwork ships unframed and will be carefully packaged for safe delivery. Shipping costs $20 and typically takes 10 to 15 business days. As soon as your order is placed, I'll personally email you to confirm the shipping timeline and keep you updated every step of the way.
