A palm frond sweeps in from the upper left in deep cobalt blue, while a Palmetto fan leaf bursts upward from the bottom in crisp white and soft powder blue, its pointed fronds radiating like rays of light. Three delicate dragonflies hover in the open space between the two leaves, adding a gentle sense of life and movement. The warm olive-green background allows both botanicals to stand out with striking clarity. The tones shift between deep cobalt, soft powder blue and warm sage green throughout.
Created using the cyanotype process, two chemicals are hand mixed and applied to watercolor paper, real botanicals are placed on top and exposed to natural sunlight, then washed by hand to reveal the image. Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind original artwork.
