A monstera leaf fills the upper half of the tall composition, its splits and holes spilling beyond the edges of the paper, while a Palmetto fan leaf radiates upward from the lower half, its pointed fronds fanning out beneath. The two leaves layer beautifully together, creating a rich tropical depth. Soft white brushstrokes sweep across the middle, separating and connecting the two at the same time. The tones are a deep, moody blend of teal, sage green and midnight navy throughout.
Created using the cyanotype process, two chemicals are hand mixed and applied to watercolor paper, real botanicals are placed on top and exposed to natural sunlight, then washed by hand to reveal the image. Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind original artwork.
