Multiple Palmetto leaves fill the entire composition in a double exposure, their pointed fronds radiating and overlapping in every direction. Large sweeping horizontal wave brushstrokes from the paintbrush flow across the piece, weaving between the leaves and adding a strong sense of movement and energy. The tones shift between deep navy, rich teal and soft powder blue with warm golden hues running through the brushstrokes.
Created using the cyanotype process, two chemicals are hand mixed and applied to watercolor paper, real botanicals are placed on top and exposed to natural sunlight, then washed by hand to reveal the image. Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind original artwork.
